DJ DRM's Bastard Blog

I just helped my friend Angelo aka El Poeta (who is 1/2 of Dub Traffik Control collective) get this beautiful anonymous 7” out that I wanted to hip folks to. I’ve loved both of these tunes for quite some time, so it was great to be able to finally see surprising remixes these on wax. The A side sees Velvet Underground chanteuse Nico’s nostalgic “These Days” gets a melancholy, 8-bit digidub treatment - it’s lovely and stirring, but the one that really gets me though is the deep “Love-a-Dub” reworking of Israel Kamakawiwoole’s reversioning of “Over the Rainbow” - a real tug on the heartstrings.
