Bjork - Crystalline (Omar Souleyman remix)
I’ve got to admit I’ve grown weary of Bjork, and honestly stopped paying attention to her musical output the last 5-7 years, despite quite possibly being the world’s biggest obsessive Bjork fan from the ages of 15-18 (when Debut, Post, and Homogenic were released)….the lengths of which I’ve gone to I’d be embarrassed to admit here.
I saw the video for Crystalline, which although beautifully directed by Michel Gondry just kind of left zero impression on me from a musical perspective. But then I heard this remixed version from Syria’s Omar Souleyman and just lost it. This guy is hitting all the right spots and exactly the right time in music, on some serious desert-sheikh-proto-hipster business (being of disconnected Saudi Arabian blood myself, this kind of shit just instinctively does it for me). Still trying to figure out the story with him, and kicking myself big time for missing him at Santos a few weeks ago.
